In response to the recent enactment of the Persons with Disabilities law, MACODA conducted a two-day orientation for staff members at its Head Office. The orientation aimed to familiarize staff with the significant changes introduced by the new Act, ensuring a continuous transition and continued support for the disability community
The new Persons with Disabilities Act brought about important changes, including: Establishment of the Malawi Council for Disability Affairs (MACODA) to replace MACOHA, and creation of a Disability Trust Fund to support activities aligning with the Act's objectives and protect persons with disabilities.
At MACODA, we are dedicated to embracing these changes and continuing our unwavering support for the disability community. We recognize the importance of adapting to the new legal framework to ensure the effective implementation of our programs and services.
With the new Act in place, we are committed to exploring opportunities to enhance inclusivity and accessibility for all. We will provide updates on our progress and initiatives undertaken to leverage the new legal provisions.
As we navigate this transition, we invite you to stay informed about our efforts to support the disability community. We will share updates on our initiatives, successes, and lessons learned, demonstrating our commitment to promoting inclusivity and accessibility for all.
