Our Mandate

MACOHA's Mandate

According to provisions of the Handicapped Person Act, Councils's designated functions or mandates are to.

  • Advise government ministries, departments, non governmental organizations, civil society organizations on all matters related to the care, welfare and promotion of rights of persons with disabilities.
  • Design and implement rehabilitation programmes and services for the social economic empowerment and inclusion of persons with disabilities.
  • Considering that disability is a cross cutting issue, to interest other government departments, public and private service providers and the general public to be actively involved in the rehabilitation processes.
  • Run vocational training centers for persons with disabilities.
  • Regulate the work of service providers whose key mandate is to support the disability cause.
  • Raise and invest funds in rehabilitation programs and services.
