As the excitement builds for the upcoming Paralympic Games, Malawi's talented athletes with disabilities are preparing to showcase their skills and determination on the international stage. Scheduled to take place from August 27 to September 8, 2024, in France.
Four athletes have been selected to represent Malawi at this prestigious event: Mphatso Saukire, Moses Misoya, Estere Nagoli, and Taonere Banda. These athletes have demonstrated remarkable dedication and hard work, earning their spots to compete among the world’s best para-athletes.
The Malawian delegation is set to depart for France on August 21, just days ahead of the opening of the games. Their participation underscores the growing commitment to inclusivity in sports and highlights the potential of athletes with disabilities to inspire others.
In the lead-up to their departure, the athletes have been engaged in intense training sessions, focusing on honing their skills and building stamina. Support from coaches, sports officials, and the Malawi Paralympic Committee has been instrumental in ensuring that the athletes are ready for the challenges they will face in France.
As one of it's functions, MACODA, under its new mandate is engaging duty bearers to ensure that cultural, sports and recreation services are inclusive and accessible to persons with disabilities as enshrined in the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2024.
